Prerequisites

After reviewing the prerequisites, application process, and FAQ page you may submit any application-related questions to info@midwiferyschool.org. You can expect a 1-2 week reply time to application inquiries.

Required

  • 18 years or older

  • High school diploma or equivalent

    • If you were homeschooled for high school, please send a notarized diploma or signed transcripts. If you have any issues with this, contact info@midwiferyschool.org to learn about other options.

  • Completion of college-level Math course (3 credits) or passing score of 50 on the CLEP exam *Note: preparatory or remedial courses will not be accepted; must pass the course with a grade of "C" or higher

  • Completion of college-level English course (3 credits) or passing score of 50 on the CLEP exam *Note: preparatory or remedial courses will not be accepted; must pass the course with a grade of "C" or higher

  • Completion of college-level Medical Terminology (1 credit) course *Note: must pass the course with a grade of "C" or higher

    • For students looking for an in-person option your local community college is typically a good place to start. If you are interested in an online course, we recommend Straighterline.

  • Certification in “Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers” through an AHA or Red Cross approved, in-person course.

 

OPTIONAL

  • Prospective students new to birth work may choose to complete a doula training course as a way to gain exposure to birth work and natural childbirth. Doula training is not prioritized in our application process.
