To promote the graduation of midwives of color and prepare them to practice in Florida, FSTM is launching the Graduate Midwife Assistance Program (GMAP). GMAP will provide funding to graduating students of color to allow them to take their licensing exam and pay their licensing fee. The cost of exam and licensing is approximately $1,700.00, which can be an obstacle to students who have been through three years of intensive education. Donating to FSTM's GMAP program will help assist these students to become licensed and begin practicing in their communities -- doing their part to improve mother-baby outcomes.
To promote this exciting new program, FSTM is participating in the Amazing Give, and the Kickoff event will be held at Cypress and Grove Brewery. For more information about our Amazing Give campaign, please click the link below:
The Newborn Home Visiting Program will provide a home visit to every baby born in Alachua County within the first week postpartum to assess the infant and mother's emotional stability, health and social support. We excited to announce that Licensed Midwives and their clients will be participating in this program.
This kickoff event will be held at the Alachua County School Board District Office, and will include kid-friendly activities, vendor booths, and speakers from participating programs.
